Synopsis
All is copacetic in the fall of the new school year as junior Leo Borlock settles in to produce his moderately popular school TV show, The Hot Seat, and keep himself safely behind the camera and out of anybody's line of fire. His safe existence implodes with the arrival of the weirdly fabulous Stargirl, whose impetuous enthusiasm for all-things-Leo forces him to choose between his own secure conformity and the glories offered by the girl from the stars.

Characters
STARGIRL:
Fiercely unique. One of a kind. Wholly original. Stargirl is a true believer in loving yourself and creating your own image. She is a 10th grader who quit homeschooling in order to make more friends and although a bit clueless when it comes to social expectations and “fitting in”; Stargirl is a kind, caring, and empathetic person who only wants everyone to be the best they can be. This role will require a LOT of physicality, movement, and confidence!
LEO:
Leo is a quiet, observant, sensitive 11th grader who doesn’t enjoy the spotlight. He and his best friend Kevin direct and produce their school’s TV show, Hot Seat. Upon Stargirl’s arrival to his school, Leo is instantly and curiously drawn to her. However, because of his reluctance to stand out, Leo is also torn between his affection for Stargirl and his desire for his classmates’ approval.
KEVIN:
Kevin is Leo’s best friend and the host of Hot Seat. He has aspirations of becoming a sleazy talk show host (a la Jerry Springer/Maury). He and Leo tend to be on the same page about everything until Leo becomes involved with Stargirl.
HILLARY:
The most popular girl in school and girlfriend of Wayne Parr. A stereotypical high school “mean girl”. Acts as a foil to Stargirl, embodying conformity and the status quo.
WAYNE PARR:
Wayne is Hillary’s boyfriend and the most popular boy in school. He isn’t known for his grades, athleticism, or leadership– rather, he’s popular because of his good looks. He comes off as a bit of an “air head” or “ditzy” at times, but has a desire to make more for himself.
ARCHIE:
A retired paleontologist who lives in a house full of fossils. His home is the gathering place for the “Loyal Order of the Stone Bone”, what Archie calls the groups of youth who congregate to listen to him give rambling speeches on a multitude of topics. He is the wised up elder who helps Leo and Stargirl parse out their own feelings.
