Kate Olson, Education Director
Aethereal Jest Arts Council is proud to announce that Kate Olson has joined our staff as Education Director.
Born and raised in Ohio, Kate is a Buckeye through and through. As early as she could walk, talk, and hold a paintbrush, she was an artist. Her childhood artistic ventures included (but were not limited to): dance, flute, ceramics, creative writing, singing, you name it. But it was in high school that she uncovered a deep love for acting and the theatrical arts. Having found her passion, she went on to study theatre at the Ohio State University.
After participating in a semester of Shakespeare and Autism research at OSU, Kate further honed her interest in theatre, focusing specifically on the healing power inherent within it. She began to explore the world of creative arts therapies - a journey that took her all the way to San Francisco to study Drama Therapy at the California Institute of Integral Studies, where she graduated with her master's degree. Since moving back to Ohio, she has spent the past few years further exploring how theatre and the arts can help us heal deep wounds, learn more about who we authentically are, and foster spaces of compassion, understanding, and bravery. She is delighted to join Aethereal Jest Arts Council as Education Director to continue this exploration and push the bounds of arts and arts education in central Ohio.
The creativity doesn't stop when the workday ends. In her spare time, you can find Kate twirling through the air on a lyra, hammock, or pole; learning various forms of crafting (currently it's crochet); and snuggling her sweet cat Olive.
